Facilities for JNV Students

Medium of instruction is the mother tongue or regional language up to Class VIII, then English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science.
Students appear for CBSE board exams.
Education, including board, lodging, uniforms, and textbooks, is free.
Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi of Rs. 600/month is collected from Classes IX to XII, but SC/ST, all girls, and BPL students are exempted.
For wards of government employees, Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi is Rs. 1500/month or actual children education allowance, whichever is less, but not below Rs. 600/month.

Eligibility Criteria

Geo Location: Candidates must be studying Class V in the same district where the JNV is located and be a bonafide resident of that district.
Age Limit: Born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016 (inclusive) for all categories.
Educational Qualification: Must be studying Class V for the full 2023-24 academic session in a Government/Government-aided/recognized school or NIOS ‘B’ certificate course in the same district.
No. of Attempts: Candidates cannot appear for JNVST more than once.
Rural Quota: At least 75% seats are reserved for rural candidates who studied Classes III, IV, and V in rural schools for the full academic session.

JNVST 2026 Details
