The Directorate of Secondary Education, Assam has released the official notification for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) 2025-2026 for students in Class VIII.

This scholarship supports gifted students from low-income families studying in Government and provincialized schools.

Scholarship Value

The scholarship provides Rs. 12,000/- per annum (Rs. 1,000/- per month) for students in Classes IX to XII.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Class: Students in Class VIII studying in Government, Local Body, or Government-aided schools.
  • Marks:
    • Minimum 55% marks in Class VII (50% for SC/ST).
    • Minimum 55% marks in Class IX and XI, and 60% marks in Class X (5% relaxation for SC/ST).
  • Family Income: Parental income not exceeding Rs. 3,50,000/- per annum.
  • Type of School: Regular students in Government, Government-aided, or Local Body schools for up to four years.

Who Can't Apply?

  • Students in private schools (can appear for the exam but are not eligible for the scholarship).
  • Students in Kendriya Vidyalayas or Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
  • Students in State Government-run residential schools with boarding, lodging, and education facilities.
